Weekend Schedule

The wedding weekend is coming up very quickly! Just a reminder, here is a link to our wedding website. We wanted to also post some info about the schedule for the weekend. If you are arriving early and will be in town Friday night we would love to spend some extra time with you. We are planning to head down to Cape Mears State Park on Friday around 7pm. The park is right on the water in downtown Pentwater. We will just be hanging out on the beach enjoying each others' company. Feel free to bring any outdoor games and don't forget your beach towel!

On Saturday the trolley will begin shuttles at 2pm sharp from the Comfort Inn. The next two shuttles will run at 2:45 and 3:30 roughly. Please plan to board the earlier shuttles. We need to fill the shuttles up to be able to transport all of our guests to the ceremony by 4pm and we do not want anyone left behind! If for some reason you are unable to make the trolley you may drive to the house, but parking is limited, so please try to plan accordingly. The trolley will be available at any time throughout the rest of the evening to return guests back to the hotel. The last trolley leaves at 12am.

So here is a recap:
Friday
- 7pm Cape Mears State Park, lounging at the beach

Saturday
- 2pm sharp and 2:45pm and 3:30pm roughly, trolley to the ceremony
- 4pm ceremony
- 5pm cocktail hour
- 6pm dinner served
- 7pm the party begins!
- Shuttles home will be available at any time

Let us know if you have any questions!!

What to wear, what to wear?

You might be asking yourself this question as the wedding inches closer. Don't fret, Aubs and I are all about keeping it casual. What should you wear?...think "classy comfortable".

Feel free to get "dressed to the nines" but don't feel like you have to just because its a wedding. The wedding will be a relaxing, chill atmosphere with all enjoying the sunshine and night on the water. Please keep in mind the wedding and reception will be outdoors. Here are a few things to consider:
  • Bringing a light jacket/sweater if you get chilly easily (the lake may be breezy)
  • Stiletto heels might not bode too well walking in the grass/sand
Other than that...come happy and ready to eat, drink and dance the night away. See you soon!

If you haven't RSVP'd yet, please do so. You can RSVP online here in less than 2 minutes! Easy as pie....mmmm pie.

64 Days Away...!

The wedding isn't very far away and we're anxious, excited, and definitely feeling the pressure to get everything done before the big day! Here are a few things we wanted to update you on:

Accommodations: Hotel rooms are filling up fast. There are still a few rooms left at The Comfort Inn Pentwater under our reservations (Bridges/Giese wedding). If you have yet to book a room in the area I would recommend doing so asap. Please visit our website's Accommodations page for more options in the area.

Also, keep in mind that the trolley will be picking up guests from the Comfort Inn Pentwater starting at 2pm with the last run at 12am. There is not much parking available at the house so please plan your route accordingly if you want to take the trolley and are not staying at the hotel.

RSVPs: We would greatly appreciate it if you could RSVP by August 1st (only a few weeks away) to help us finalize wedding day plans. Please RSVP online here.

Music: We've received some awesome music requests but still need quite a few more to keep the reception going all night. You can request your favorite tune, classic wedding songs, or just something you want to dance to. Submit as many requests as you want on our Reception Music Request page.

Honeymoon: Last, but definitely not least, we booked our honeymoon flights to Cambodia! Can't wait.

I'm sure there is more I could share but that's all for now. Please check back for more details as the wedding draws closer.

We can't wait to see you and have you share in our special day.

Cheap Flights Again:)

Continental and United are offering cheap flights to Detroit! Some of the layovers are not the most direct, but the flights are as low as $200!! So check it out, I looked at Bing, tripadvisor and airfarewatchdog, but I am sure you can find them elsewhere!

Just an FYI

Just an FYI for anyone interested in purchasing a gift from our registry. Macy's is offering $20 off and free shipping on registry items! Macys has great sales all of the time and great coupons in the paper, so be sure to make your purchases when they are on sale! Of course a gift is not necessary, but I know I love a good deal and wanted to pass it along:)

The dress...

I FINALLY bought the dress! It took many months and trips to stores across the nation, but I finally found the one in Boise, Idaho of all places! Many thanks to my classmate, and roommate at the time, Bridget for being such a great sport through multiple trips back to the store and never ending questions for reassurement:) Of course I cannot post a photo of it here, but I can show you some of the many failed attempts...Enjoy!!

Cheap Flights!! Book Now:)

For all of our out of town guests: I wanted to let you know that flights to Detroit are really cheap today! many are $200 round trip for the weekend of our wedding. Take advantage of this opportunity if you can b/c flights have been up around $400! I was finding these flights on BING, travelocity and Orbitz, most through United and Continental. The dates I searched for were September 8-12. You can also check flights into Chicago (same distance as detroit to our venue) and Grand rapids, MI (closest airport, about 1 1/2 hrs from venue). Hope you are all able to find one that works well for you!!! I will continue to keep my eye on them! Let me know if you have any questions or need any information from me before booking!!

Checking Items off the list...

This month I finally feel as if we are really getting somewhere with this planning process! While we were home for christmas, myself, kyle, my mom and future mother in-law had a chance to drive out to see the house in Pentwater (And yes it was Kyle's first time seeing the place...And he LOVED it thank goodness:). We met with our potential caterer/wedding planner at the site so she could take a look at the space as well. We spent the rest of the afternoon discussing details of the wedding. The meeting went GREAT. We all loved the planner, she seems to pay great attention to all the details that we would never even think of and I believe all of our minds were put at ease knowing we will have someone to take care of everything on the wedding day. Her food sounds great too, but we have not been able to do any tasting yet!

So we booked the caterer/planner with catered creations on the spot. We have also recently decided on an officiant, Tom Hamel. And we solidified the trolley rental for the day!!! The Trolley will definitely be available to shuttle our guests from the Comfort Inn of Pentwater to the Pentagon Beach house for the ceremony and back to the hotel at night. It seats 30 people and she was sure to let me know that alcohol IS OK on the bus:)

So we are finally getting some things done and checked off the list! Now if I could only find a stinkin wedding dress...Check out the cold wintery photos of our venue below!
